(PROGRAM CLOSED 4/21/24)  Crested Butte is widely recognized as the founding epicenter of mountain biking, as RITUAL audiences will experience via the “Born From Junk” (Part 1, Special Long Cut) film.  Beginning in the 1970s Crested Butte residents tinkered with bikes rescued from the Denver dump, modifying a mix of road bikes, motorcycle parts, junkers, and the occasional bit of flair. They called these creations Crested Butte Klunkers. They didn’t have lofty goals for these klunkers, they were just hoping for something that could handle the potholed main street and a bit of fun on the old mining roads.  But things changed in 1976 when their thirst for beer and adventure took them over the gnarly wagon roads of Pearl Pass to the neighboring town of Aspen, and mountain biking was born.  

Today, the Gunnison Valley and Crested Butte are home to astonishing mountain beauty and public land access to over 800+ miles of trails procured by CBMBA, the oldest mountain bike club on the planet and Gunnison Trails.

The Gunnison Crested Butte trip includes a four-night stay in a trailside hotel, a three-day mountain bike rental and one day of guided riding through the legendary trails of Crested Butte, Colorado for you and a friend. Winners will also receive a $750 travel stipend for meals and other travel costs, including airfare. 

The RITUAL Mountain Bike Film Tour will creatively bring together the industry’s best stories, riding adventures, amazing athletes, stellar storytelling, creative film making and beautiful cinematography in some of mountain biking’s most scenic locations for a series of epic live events. The inaugural RITUAL tour delivers a big screen experience featuring the industry’s leading cinematography and stories reveling with live music, beverages and high fives celebrating the riding season to come..

The RITUAL team will host ten premier film events in mountain biking’s most  influential destinations across the country serving as the tour’s cultural epicenter, while an additional 40+ partner events will bring together advocacy groups, nonprofits, fans and filmmakers for the remainder of the tour’s National schedule.
